Pactbeam · trial build 0.12.1
Find the cell that doesn't add up before the check goes out.
Drop in this month's pay app, last month's, and the backup. Pactbeam reads every formula on your own computer and marks the cells someone should ask about before the check goes out.
Whether an amount is right, and whether to pay it, stays your call. We point you to the cell and draft the question for whoever built the sheet.
The problem
Month end. The pile of pay apps.
Every file is last month's file, edited.
Most of it is fine. The trouble is the one cell that isn't, and nothing tells you which one.
Totals can match while the math moved.
A sum picks up an extra cell, or a typed number replaces a formula. The bottom line still looks right, so a quick read won't catch it.
Sending it out costs time and control.
An outside review means files leave your company and findings come back as notes. It's hard to tell what wasn't checked.
What it catches
What the trial build actually finds.
Each screen below is the trial build running on practice files. The build details are at the bottom of the page.
One stray cell, one question.
A dash typed where a number belongs blocks every total below it. Instead of a hundred warnings, the list shows one item and outlines the cell to ask about. Most of the cells it blocks turn grey.

A circular reference behind a stored zero.
F8 now sums F5:F7, and F6 points back at F8. The file stores 0 and the sheet looks finished. Pactbeam lists the loop as something it can't check and marks both cells.

The total didn't move. The formula did.
C11 still shows 30, but the formula now adds B9, and B9 is empty. Pactbeam lists the change and the blank cell it now depends on.

A formula typed over with a number.
C9 was =D9. Now it is just 9. The amount barely moved, which is why it gets missed.

This period's claim, against the change to date.
To date 142,000 minus previous 100,000 is 42,000. The claim says 45,000, so 3,000 stays open as an unclosed delta. You pick the cells. Pactbeam does the subtraction and keeps every source cell.

Each finding comes with a question you can send.
Each item you add becomes one sentence that names the file, sheet and cell. A change between versions also carries the older and the newer value. Copy the list and send it to whoever prepared the sheet.

Your files stay on your computer.
No upload, no cloud account, and no AI model reading your numbers. It works without internet, and it lists what it didn't check instead of skipping it quietly.
- Our browser tests run with the network off and check for unexpected requests. We also plant a few request attempts on purpose, to make sure the tests catch them.
- No installer and no account. It's a folder you unzip and open.
- One thing to know: it isn't code-signed yet, so Windows may warn you before it opens.
- 0bytes uploaded
- 0AI calls
- Offlineworks without internet

Plainly
What it doesn't do yet.
- We don't judge whether an amount is right or ready to pay. A difference stays flagged until someone explains it.
- Retainage, stored materials and change orders aren't handled yet, and AIA G702/G703 has no special handling.
- The period claim check works in New Taiwan dollars only for now.
- It reads the values saved in the file and doesn't recalculate Excel. Formulas that reach across sheets, or use IF or VLOOKUP, are listed as outside the automatic check.
- It doesn't guess which file is older. You say so.

Where it stands.
0.12.1 is a trial build for Windows, delivered as a folder you unzip and open. It isn't code-signed yet, and we haven't finished testing it on Windows machines.
Most of our testing is on practice files. Trials on real files have only just started, and the newest rule in this build has been checked by us, not yet by an independent reviewer.

Pilot
Run it on last month's pay apps with us.
We're looking for a few people who review pay apps or construction draws to try it at their own desk, with nothing leaving the building.
